AXA XL’s UK & Lloyd’s Business Unit has announced the appointment of Louise Nevill as Chief Underwriting Officer – Specialty and Sundeep Khera as Head of Marine and Energy.
These appointments reflect a wider strategic restructuring of the firm’s underwriting model, under the leadership of Chief Underwriting Officer Mike Gosselin.
As CUO, Nevill, who will be reporting to Gosselin, will be responsible for leading the Specialty pillar, including Equine, Livestock & Aquaculture; Fine Art & Specie; Sports, Media and Entertainment; Political Violence, Security Risk and Product Recall; Political Risk, Credit & Bond; and Energy, Marine and Aerospace.
Effective immediately, Khera will transition to his expanded leadership role position as Head of Marine and Energy, and will report to Nevill once he joins AXA XL later this year.
Khera has served in his current role as role as Global Chief Underwriting Officer – Marine Hull, and Head of Marine Underwriting, UK & Lloyd’s since 2021.

Nevill is joining AXA XL from Marsh, where she served as CEO of Marine, Cargo, and Logistics, Marsh Specialty UK for over five years.
With nearly 30 years of experience in both broking and underwriting, she is a seasoned marine underwriter who transitioned into specialty underwriting management.
Khera has been part of AXA since 2023, having held several roles in shipping operations, stowage planning, commercial and general management prior to that.
As a Master Mariner, he has extensive sailing experience on commercial vessels, including crude tankers, product tankers, and bulk carriers.
